The 2024 first-round pick started at second base, batting leadoff, and hit a 425-foot solo homer for his first hit. He was the first Cardinal to record his first career hit and home run in an Opening Day debut since 1957. A day later, he became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in their first game and have a walk-off hit in their second.
