As a sophomore in 2023, JJ posted incredible numbers, batting .409 with 17 home runs and 54 RBIs over 56 games. His ability to hit for both average and power, along with his solid on-base skills and quick feet, made him an immediate draft prospect. He was named an All-American by multiple publications and was considered one of the top college players available for the 2024 MLB Draft.
